Private First Class Joseph E. Abrego, Platoon 2167, Hotel Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, stands at parade rest prior to graduation at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Nov. 20. Abrego is an Austin, Texas, native and was recruited out of Recruiting Station San Antonio. Today, all males recruited from west of the Mississippi are trained at MCRD San Diego. The depot is responsible for training more than 16,000 recruits annually.
