TANDUO, Malaysia (Nov. 11, 2015) U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Jesse Meinhardt blows on embers to start a fire using steel, a rock and dry straw in a jungle survival course during Malaysia-United States Amphibious Exercise 2015. Meinhardt is a rifleman with Kilo Company, Battalion Landing Team 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit. During the course, Marines learned how to use material found in the jungle to start and maintain a fire from Malaysian soldiers. The purpose of the exercise was to strengthen military cooperation in the planning and execution of amphibious operations between Malaysian armed forces and U.S. Marines. The 15th MEU is currently deployed in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region to promote regional stability and security in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Sgt.
