New recruits of Lima Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, stand at attention during receiving at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Nov. 9. The recruits are only allowed to speak to Marines at the position of attention to show respect and discipline during recruit training. Today, all males recruited from west of the Mississippi are trained at MCRD San Diego. The depot is responsible for training more than 16,000 recruits annually. Lima Company is scheduled to graduate from recruit training on Feb. 5.
