Sgt. Daniel E. Elizarraraz, drill instructor, Receiving Company, Support Battalion, tells a recruit to respond louder during receiving at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Nov. 9. The moment the recruits step off the bus is the moment training starts for them. Today, all males from west of the Mississippi are trained at MCRD San Diego. The depot is responsible for training more than 16,000 recruits annually. Lima Company is scheduled to graduate from recruit training on Feb. 5.
