Family members cheer for the Corps’ newest Marines during graduation at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Oct. 23. The graduation ceremony takes place after 13 weeks of rigorous training including classes on tactics, weapons and history. After graduation, all Marines are given 10 days of leave before taking the next step in training. Today, all males recruited from west of the Mississippi are trained at MCRD San Diego. The depot is responsible for training more than 16,000 recruits annually.
