Sgt. Maj. Michael Walton, sergeant major of Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 232, salutes the battlefield cross during a memorial ceremony in honor of Maj. Taj Sareen, a pilot with VMFA-232, aboard Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Calif., Nov. 13. Sareen died on Oct. 21 when his jet crashed during his return flight following a six-month deployment in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.
