When 1st platoon, "A" Company, 4th Battalion, 6th Infantry Regiment arrived at the proposed site for Joint Security Station Maysan, Sept. 29, there were only two concrete slabs and blast walls constructed from "HESCO" (Hercules Engineering Solutions Consortium) barriers – essentially very large sand bags. Though projected to take eight days, more than eighty percent of the work was complete on the second day of construction. (U.S. Army photo by 2nd Lt. Elliott Emerich)
