Capt. Robert “Bob” Wolff is interviewed during Gathering of Eagles in Wood Auditorium at Air Command and Staff College. Wolff was a B-17 pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. On his eighth combat mission his B-17 was critically damaged, forcing him to crash land in the water where he and his crew, “The Wolff Pack,” were captured by the Germans. Wolff spent 19 months as a German Prisoner of War before eventually being freed by an allied tank on April 29, 1945. For his actions he received the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal. Capt Wolff is one of 12 Eagles for 2015 Gathering of Eagles, GOE is an Air Command and Staff College annual event. (USAF Photograph by Donna L. Burnett/Released)
