Christine Smith sings in the opening piece of “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” Oct. 23 at the Headquarters and Support Battalion building aboard Camp Foster, Okinawa, Japan. Smith is a member of the Pacific Okinawa Players, the community theater group who performed the play. The theater group is run by volunteers of all ages under the Status of Forces Agreement. Ticket sales and donations are directed to the costs of productions as well as scholarship funds for students pursuing performing arts careers. POPs performed the play Oct. 15-17 and 22-24.
