Masahiko Hoshino, commander, Escort Division 14 for the Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force, arrives on the flight deck of the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) during Exercise Malabar. Malabar is a continuing series of complex, high-end war fighting exercises conducted to advance multi-national maritime relationships and mutual security.
