Nearly a dozen NCNG Soldiers of the 878th and 875th Engineer Company with many tons of sand, steady hands, years of Guard training and experience and civilian skills with backhoes, dump trucks and road graders turn a new stream into a newer road repairing a washed out a culvert on the only road in a neighborhood in Hemingway, S.C., that stranded a family in their home. “It is what we are here for,” said Army Staff Sgt. Corey Carson of Mount Airy, N.C., a heavy equipment operator with the 875th.
