U.S. Army Cpl. Paul Herring, a security augmentee assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 1st Brigade of the South Carolina State Guard, has been state-activated to guard the front gate at McCrady Training Center, S.C., after the S.C. flood, Oct. 9, 2015. “I like continuing to serve and the opportunity to keep doing my part,” said Herring. The South Carolina National Guard has been activated to support state and county emergency management agencies and local first responders as historic flooding impacts counties statewide. Currently, more than 2,600 South Carolina National Guard members have been activated in response to the floods. (U.S. Air National Guard photo by Airman Megan Floyd/Released)
