The ceremony began with the Qatari and U.S. national anthems, followed by a chaplain's invocation and an opening message from Girard, installation commander. Afterward, LeBaron delivered a message as the ceremony's guest speaker. Then, Girard read President Barack Obama's Veterans Day proclamation, along with his announcement honoring the victims of the tragedy at Fort Hood, Texas, Nov. 5.
