U.S. Army Col. Vernon Simpson (left), the commander of the 30th Armored Brigade Combat Team and Multinational Battle Group-East, presents Swiss Army Pvt. Marie Baezner with a plaque recognizing her as the top female racer in a U.S. Army Ten-Miler Shadow Run, held Sept. 27, 2015, at Camp Bondsteel, Kosovo. Baezner finished the race with a time of 1:13:57. This was the first Army 10-Miler Shadow Run held on Camp Bondsteel, with more than 100 participants, including U.S. Army Soldiers and civilians in Kosovo, as well as Polish and Swiss service members. MNBG-E is a U.S.-led element of NATO’s Kosovo Force peace support mission in the region, currently serving as the 20th rotation of NATO troops since the late 1990s. The race was hosted by MNBG-E’s Southern Command Post, known as Task Force Hurricane, made up of U.S. Army aviation Soldiers from California, Connecticut and Florida.
