U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer Louie Bismonte digs up flagged metal hits, looking for possible aircraft wreckage or life support material during a Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency mission. Bismonte was assigned as a medic to a 13-member specialized recovery team that spent more than 45 days searching for the remains of service members who paid the ultimate sacrifice during World War II. The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency conducts global search, recovery and laboratory operations to identify unaccounted-for Americans from past conflicts in order to support the Department of Defense's personnel accounting efforts.
