(Sept. 29, 2015) The official party stands at attention for the lowering of the National Ensign during the decommissioning ceremony of the guided-missile frigate USS Simpson (FFG 56) at Naval Station Mayport. Having served for 30 years, Simpson had been the most recent U.S. Navy warship to sink an enemy vessel in action during an encounter with an Iranian gunboat in the Persian Gulf on April 18, 1988.
