Andrew Torres, a bulk fuel specialist with Headquarters Battalion, Marine Corps Base Hawaii, refuels an Army CH-47 Chinook helicopter at Marine Corps Air Station Kaneohe Bay aboard MCB Hawaii, Sept. 23, 2015. Torres, a Hobbs, Neb., native, was assisting soldiers with 3rd Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team out of Schofield Barracks, Hawaii were conducting helocast operations at Marine Corps Training Area Bellows to refine their waterborne insertion tactics and re-qualifying their cast masters for future deployments and reconnaissance missions. For most helocast insertions, the aircraft assumes an altitude just above the water’s surface, with an airspeed of 10 knots or less. Team members then exit the aircraft and enter the water.
