A bridge spans the Waal River, near Nijmegen, the Netherlands, where 48 paratroopers of the 82nd Airborne Division died in combat during Operation Market Garden in 1944. The bridge is the site of the sunset march, a tradition carried out by veterans to honor the Paratroopers of the 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment and the 307th Engineer Battalion that were killed in combat while crossing the river.
