North Carolina Army National Guard Col. Beau Cook (left), of the 130th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, asks his father, Doug Cook, to attach his rank during a promotion ceremony in his honor at the Gerald A. Rudisill Readiness Center here, Sept. 12, 2015. Cook, who resides in Blowing Rock, N.C., was promoted to colonel during the ceremony. The highly decorated leader served tours of duty in Operation Desert Shield and Operation Iraqi Freedom and credits his parents for instilling the morals and values he lives by; making him the man he is today.
