North Carolina Army National Guard Col. Beau Cook, of the 130th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, cuts a slice of cake for his daughter, Makena Cook, at the reception following his promotion ceremony. Cook, who resides in Blowing Rock, N.C., was promoted to colonel during the ceremony at the Gerald A. Rudisill Readiness Center here, Sept. 12, 2015. The highly decorated leader served cake to members of his family before turning the knife over to his staff. Cook is currently the Director of Logistics at Joint Forces Headquarters, Raleigh, N.C.
