Williams stands watch on a .50-caliber machine gun as guided-missile destroyer USS Bainbridge (DDG 96) passes the new Suez Canal monument, marking the opening of the new section. The new section of the canal opened officially, on Aug. 6, allowing convoys to travel North and South without delays. Bainbridge is currently underway conducting naval operations in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations in support of U.S. national security interests in Africa.
