    KUWAIT (Aug. 26, 2015) U.S. Marines Lance Cpl. Maurice Gardner, left, and Lance Cpl. Gary Gomez engage targets more than 500 meters away with an M224A1 60 mm mortar system during call-for-fire training. Gardner is an assistant gunner and Gomez is a gunner, both with Kilo Company, Battalion Landing Team 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit. During the training squad leaders sharpened their call-for-fire skills with mortarmen. Elements of the 15th MEU are ashore in Kuwait for sustainment training to maintain and enhance the skills they developed during their pre-deployment training period. The 15th MEU is embarked with the Essex Amphibious Ready Group and deployed to maintain regional security in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Sgt.
