KUWAIT (Aug. 24, 2015) U.S. Marines Lance Cpl. Malachi Askland (left) and Cpl. Matthew Kobylarz clear a safe lane for their squad during mechanized squad attack training. Askland is an assualtman and Kobylarz is an assault team leader, both with Kilo Company, Battalion Landing Team 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU). The training focused on the squad’s ability to effectively utilize AAV-7 Amphibious Assault Vehicles, and M1A1 Abrams tanks to close with and destroy enemy targets. Elements of the 15th MEU are ashore in Kuwait for sustainment training to maintain and enhance the skills they developed during their pre-deployment training period. The 15th MEU is embarked with the Essex Amphibious Ready Group and deployed to maintain regional security in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Sgt.
