Shannon Kelly, from Missouri, poses for a photo at the Vermont Air National Guard base Aug. 31, 2015. He is VTANG's newest member of the environmental office, working beside Peter Dufault to help keep the base within state and federal compliance. As a Navy Reserve retiree with 22 years of service, he said he understands the Guard's mission and doesn't feel out of place at his new job. He has worked in the environmental field for the past seven years as a civil service employee at Fort Leonard Wood, and is excited by this new chapter of his life- to be working and living within his wife's home state. While accustomed to a larger team, he said he's looking forward to branching out and covering aspects of the environmental office he's never been involved with before.
