Lance Cpl. Thurlo P. Forester, a rifleman with 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, submerges himself underwater to become accustomed to using an underwater breathing apparatus during Shallow Water Egress Training held at the pool aboard Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Aug. 26, 2015. The purpose of this training is to familiarize Marines with the steps and procedures of evacuating a downed aircraft in the water.
