(Aug. 21, 2015) Engineman 2nd Class Jacob Simon, assigned to U.S. Naval War College (NWC) in Newport, R.I., stands portside lookout as the NWC command cutter passes under the Claiborne Pell Newport Bridge in Narragansett Bay, R.I. The NWC command cutter was built by the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard in February 1957, is 50 feet in length with a beam of 13.5 feet, and is made of oak with double-planked Alaskan cedar sides and teak decks.
