The graduation marked the end of an eight-week training course led by members of the Carabinieri, Italy, national military police force. The course focused on training to strengthen the Iraqi police’s capacity to contribute to the stabilization of Iraq. This was the 18th training course led by the Carabinieri in Iraq and the first held since 2011. Coalition-led training like the Carabinieri Course is a part of the larger building partner capacity mission to prepare Iraqi security forces to defeat the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.
