NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (Aug. 12, 2015) Indian navy Vice Adm. Surinder Pai Singh Cheema, flag officer commanding in chief of Western Naval Command, views the flight deck of the aircraft carrier Pre- Commissioning Unit (PCU) Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78) from the ship’s bridge. Cheema, along with an Indian navy flag delegation, toured Gerald R. Ford with Rear Adm. Thomas Moore, program executive officer for aircraft carriers, and Capt. John F. Meier, commanding officer of PCU Gerald R. Ford. Earlier this year the U.S. and Indian navy announced a joint working group to share aspects of aircraft carrier technology and design.
