U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Gary Patterson, 36th Airlift Squadron loadmaster, installs a foot ramp onto a C-130 Hercules from Yokota Air Base, Japan, during RED FLAG-Alaska at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Ala., Aug. 12, 2015. More than 60 U.S. Army Soldiers with the 1st Battalion (Airborne), 501st Infantry Regiment, and more than 20 Japan Ground Self-Defense Force members jumped from multiple C-130 Hercules during the training. Red Flag-Alaska is an exercise that provides joint offensive counter-air, interdiction, close air support and large force employment training in a simulated combat environment.
