U.S. Marines with Company C, 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, Marine Rotational Force – Darwin, set up a 360-degree perimeter after insertion into a landing zone during helicopter raid training Aug. 7 at the Kangaroo Flats Training Area, Northern Territory, Australia. The Marines are a part of the Marine Air-Ground Task Force that is composed of aviation, ground and logistics combat elements that create MRF-D. The rotational deployment in Darwin enables Marines to more effectively train, exercise and operate with their partners, enhancing regional security and building a capacity to respond more rapidly to natural disasters and crises throughout that region.
