Petty Officer 1st Class Joshua McClelland, a maintenance administrative lead petty officer at Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 24 and a Siloam Springs, Ark., native, spikes the ball for the “V-Ballers” in a sand volleyball game at Riseley Field aboard Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Aug. 11, 2015. The last game of the 101 Days of Summer Sand Volleyball Tournament took place the next day, Aug. 12, between the “V-Ballers” and the “Stepdads.” The “Stepdads” won the final match at 25 points, making them champions of the tournament, which was part of the 101 Days of Summer Program to provide various events throughout the summer for service members at MCB Hawaii, promote competition between units and responsible alcohol consumption and eliminate drug abuse. Service members could earn points for their unit by participating in this and the other program activities. The three highest-earning large and small units at the end of the summer will receive prize money toward their unit’s discretionary fund. The mission of MCB Hawaii is to provide facilities, programs and services in direct support of units, individuals and families in order to sustain combat readiness for all operating forces and tenant organizations aboard the installation.
