Developing future industrial sinews: Philippine vocational schools continue to be the principle source of both skilled and semi-skilled manpower for the country's growing industrial sector. A joint project to improve Philippine vocational education - both industrial and agricultural - has seen to the upgrading or establishment of 34 trade and industrial schools and 40 agricultural schools. Typical scene in an elementary workshop shows boy working with versatile bamboo and native bolo - an instrument not quite appropriate by modern standards of vocational education, but a reliable one in the hands of the young Filipino craftsman.
