Philip Sacks, a purple heart recipient, renders honors during the playing of the national anthem during the Seattle Mariners’ Purple Heart Night at Safeco Field, Seattle, Aug. 10, 2015. Sacks, an Army Soldier, who previously served as a private first class in the 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, received recognition for his service during the Korea War where he fought in the battles of Bloody Ridge and Heartbreak Ridge. When asked what his military specialty was during the war, Sacks took off his hat and pointed to his Combat Infantry Badge, “You don’t get that without being infantry!” (U.S. Army photo by Sgt. 1st Class Andrew Porch, 28th Public Affairs Detachment)
