Phil Sacks, a purple heart recipient and a previous private first class in the Army, throws out the ceremonial first pitch during the Seattle Mariners’ Purple Heart Night at Safeco Field, Seattle, Aug. 10. The Mariners are one of two teams in Major League Baseball who have signed a proclamation making them a Purple Heart Team. “It is very nice and I wish more clubs would do it,” said Sacks.
