World War II veterans with the 4th Marine Division Association gathered in front of John A. Lejeune Hall to observe morning colors as part of their final muster aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune Aug. 4. Brig. Gen. Thomas D. Weidley and Sgt. Maj. Paul A. Berry welcomed the veterans, spouses and other family members to the base as they arrived for the colors ceremony. The association members and their families are visiting the base and local community this week ahead of the unit's formal deactivation ceremony on Aug. 6 with the goal of engaging current Marines to symbolically pass the torch from one generation of Marines to another.
