A Philippine Marine fast ropes out of a MV-22B Osprey while U.S. Marines act as the rope’s anchor during Air Assault Support Exercise 2015-2 on Basa Air Base in Pampanga, Philippines, July 19, 2015. By establishing an anchor point, the U.S. Marines hold the rope in place to help control the path of descent ensuring the service members can safely land. AASE is a bilateral training event focused on strengthening the alliance between the Philippines and the U.S. The Philippine Marines are with Marine Battalion Landing Team 1, 1st Battalion, Philippine Marine Corps.
