ARTA BEACH, Djibouti (July 28, 2015) U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Steven Benavidez prepares a Javelin shoulder-fired anti-tank missile system for use during sustainment training. Benavidez is a scout with Combined Anti-Armor Team 1, Weapons Company, Battalion Landing Team 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit. Elements of the 15th MEU are ashore in Djibouti for sustainment training to maintain and enhance the skills they developed during their pre-deployment training period. The 15th MEU is currently deployed in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of operation.
