Samantha Turner surveys the damage at the origin of the landslide. This landslide flowed all the way to the Vera River where it combined with the water flow into Tbilisi and devastated parts of the capital city. From July 12-17, Capt. Samantha Turner of the Army Reserve’s 589th FEST-A Team and Doug Wesemann from U.S. Army Corps of Engineers traveled to Tbilisi, Georgia, to gain an understanding of the flood event that happened there and work with local officials to help plan for future disasters.
