Maj. Gen. Richard Natonski presented the Bronze Star Medal with Combat Distinguishing Device to 1st Lt. Alfred L. Butler IV, executive officer for Weapons Company, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment outside the battalion's command post on Camp Fallujah May 19. The day held extra meaning for the 1st Marine Division Commanding General, who knew Butler's father before he lost his life in Beirut in 1984.
