Pfc. Matthew Gonzales-Upton, a medic assigned to 1st Squadron, 73rd Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, helps his son, Liam, hold onto his universal static line prior to “jumping” from the mock aircraft during 1-73rd Cavalry Regiment's Kids’ Day, July 31. An annual squadron event, Kids’ Day allows 1-73rd paratroopers to show their children and spouses what it’s like to be a cavalry trooper, and have fun at the same time. Family members were able to see multiple weapons systems, ride in military vehicles, don T-11 parachutes and learn actions inside the aircraft. Of approximately 500 troopers in the unit, more than 130 families attended the event.
