Despite lack of sleep Sgt. Michael Davis, a section chief assigned to 3rd Battalion, 319th Airborne Field Artillery Regiment, checks the bore of his M119A3 during an emergency fire mission or “hip shoot” during the first Battalion Artillery Readiness Test in more than a decade. The BART, conducted from July 27 to 31 on Fort Bragg, N.C., validated the Gun Devils’ ability to coordinate complex fire missions before assuming the Global Response Force in December. (Capt.
