ARABIAN GULF (July 28, 2015) U.S. Marine Cpl. Patrick Kennon assess additional threats after firing at his target during a short-range marksmanship qualification course aboard the dock landing ship USS Rushmore (LSD 47). Kennon is a machine gunner with Kilo Company, Battalion Landing Team 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit. The training focused on sustaining combat marksmanship skills during combat-shooting rehearsals, as well as immediate-action tactics, which prepare these Marines for potential operations while deployed with the 15th MEU. The 15th MEU is embarked on the Essex Amphibious Ready Group and deployed to maintain regional security in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Sgt.
