Shawn Bowdoin, staff anesthesiologist (Left) and others care for "Sim Lab Junior," who was scheduled for a routine appendectomy operation that turned out to be anything but a normal procedure. TeamSTEPPS training had Main OR staff members continuing their groundwork in patient-safety by not only exchanging information clearly and accurately between team members, one of the key principles of TeamSTEPPS, but also following through with team structure; leadership; situation monitoring and cross monitoring; and mutual support, the other key concepts of TeamSTEPPS.
