Coordinating and communicating through a crisis ... Naval Hospital Bremerton Main Operating Room staff use TeamSTEPPS principles in handling a mock pediatric malignant hyperthermia case. TeamSTEPPS is a teamwork-based program designed to improve patient safety, enhance performance, augment overall communication and advance teamwork skills. TeamSTEPPS training had Main OR staff members continuing their groundwork in patient-safety by not only exchanging information clearly and accurately between team members, one of the key principles of TeamSTEPPS, but also following through with team structure; leadership; situation monitoring and cross monitoring; and mutual support, the other key concepts of TeamSTEPPS.
