Soldiers from the Michigan Army National Guard, 125th Infantry Regiment, exit a C-130 Hercules on the flight line at the Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center in Alpena, Mich., July 26, 2015, during Northern Strike 15. Northern Strike 15 is the primary combat training exercise for the Michigan Guard. More than 2,000 Soldiers and Airmen from the Michigan National Guard, active duty Army, and other states’ national guards are participating. The exercise will be conducted at the Camp Grayling Joint Maneuver Training Center, the Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center and at the Rogers City Quarry. Airmobile insertions and complex live-fire exercises will be conducted at the Camp Grayling Air-to-Ground Range. Northern Strike 15 provides an opportunity to integrate ground Soldiers with many of the combat capabilities that would be employed in a kinetic operation like mortars, artillery, and rotary and fixed wing attack aviation.
