A Michigan Army National Guard Soldier from Company A, 1st Battalion, 125th Infantry Regiment, aims down the sights of an M249 Squad Automatic Weapon at the Camp Grayling Air-to-Ground Range in Grayling, Mich., during Northern Strike 15, July 23, 2015. Northern Strike 15 is the primary combat training exercise for the Michigan Guard. More than 2,000 Soldiers and Airmen from the Michigan National Guard, active duty Army, and other states’ national guards are participating. The exercise will be conducted at the Camp Grayling Joint Maneuver Training Center, the Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center and at the Rogers City Quarry. Airmobile insertions and complex live-fire exercises will be conducted at the Camp Grayling Air-to-Ground Range. Northern Strike 15 provides an opportunity to integrate ground Soldiers with many of the combat capabilities that would be employed in a kinetic operation like mortars, artillery, and rotary and fixed wing attack aviation.
