A 1st Battalion, 12th Cavalry Regiment, M1A1 Abrams Main Battle Tank races into position to engage M1A1s of Company D, 1st Battalion, 155th Infantry Regiment, Mississippi Army National Guard, during a force-on-force tank battle as part of an Exportable Combat Training Capability exercise at Camp Shelby Joint Forces Training Center, near Hattiesburg, Miss., on July 29. The 1-12 is among more than 500 Soldiers from the U.S. Army's 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, based at Fort Hood, Texas, that is partnering with the 155th Armored Brigade Combat Team for the exercise. The XCTC gives Soldiers and units the opportunity to strengthen their individual and combat readiness – a requirement for the Army Total Force Policy, which supports Army commitments worldwide.
