Petty Officer 2nd Class Keith Harper, a religious program specialist stationed aboard Marine Corps Base Hawaii, carries boxes of food off a truck as Mike McLaughlin, a member of St. George Catholic Church, unpacks more than 3,000 pounds of food in Waimanalo July 24, 2015. The canned goods come from federal employees who have donated to Feds Feed Families, a Department of Agriculture program where federal employees donate non-perishable goods to food banks and charities. The campaign, which began on July 15 and concludes October 2, 2015, was designed to help food banks and pantries stay stocked during summer months when they traditionally see a decrease in donations and an increase in need. Events like this support Marine Corps Base Hawaii’s mission to provide facilities, programs and services in direct support of units, individuals and families in order to enhance and sustain combat readiness for all operating forces and tenant organizations aboard the installation.
