INDIAN OCEAN (July 27, 2015) U.S. Marines with India Battery, Battalion Landing Team 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), execute fire-mission drills with an M777A2 Lightweight Howitzer aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2) July 27, 2015. These Marines rehearsed both indirect and direct fire missions to ensure they stay familiarized with the weapon system. Elements of the 15th MEU, based out of Camp Pendleton, California, and embarked aboard the Essex, are conducting naval operations in the 6th Fleet areas of operation in support of U.S. national security interests in Europe and Africa.
