ARABIAN SEA (July 20, 2015) U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Garred Sims guides a Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacement (MTVR) onto a landing craft, air cushion aboard the amphibious transport dock ship USS Anchorage (LPD 23). Sims is a rifleman with Light Armored Reconnaissance Detachment, Battalion Landing Team 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit. Marines and sailors disembarked Anchorage to conduct training in Djibouti. Elements of the 15th MEU are conducting training ashore in Djibouti to maintain the skills they developed during their pre-deployment training cycle and to ensure they are prepared to support regional security while deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations.
