A U.S. Air Force F-16D, from the New Jersey Air National Guard's 177th Fighter Wing, begins engine start procedures prior to a familiarization flight during Thracian Star 2015 at Graf Ignatievo Air Base, Bulgaria, on July 17, 2015. Airmen and F-16s from the 177th Fighter Wing flew sorties with the Bulgarian air force in the bilateral training exercise, designed to enhance interoperability. Some MiG-29, MiG-21 and F-16 pilots from each country were afforded the opportunity to fly in each other's jets and observe their capabilities. (U.S. Air National Guard photo by Master Sgt. Andrew J.
